Details
Since getting my permaculture diploma I wanted to create a food forest. The more I
talked to people the more I realized that permaculture ismany things to many people.
It was more than just a gardening concept, more than a lifestyle concept,
it was a new way of thinking about the world around us.
When I explained permaculture to most people I got positive feedback,
BUT were often baffled by the complexity. Guilds, zones, sectors, habitat, ecosystems, succession, and beneficial insects was a lot of information for people to absorb that
just wanted to try an alternative gardening style.
Was there a way to present permaculture in an easy to understand manner
that inspired people to learn more about it? Mel Bartholomew’sSquare Foot Gardening
offered inspiration. It was where I went whenI began my gardening education. It was clear, concise, and gave me a place to start that didn’t feel overwhelming.
What came out was the $100 Food Forest.
